Bonne Fête Julia Celebration

On Saturday, August 15, Books to Cooks celebrated Julia Child's 97th birthday with a joyous fête. Guests first gathered at the Fifth Avenue Cinemas to watch a matinée screening of Julie & Julia. A convivial birthday reception at our shop followed immediately after the film.

Guests enjoyed a delightful menu from Mastering the Art of French Cooking (Volume 1) prepared by Chef Adrienne O'Callaghan: gougères, Mimosa salad and boeuf Borguignon. French rosé and pinot noir wine, recommended by Anthony Nicalo of Farmstead Wines, was poured. The elegant tableware on which our food was served was supplied by Puddifoot Tablewares.

We capped off the evening with vanilla cupcakes filled with citrus curd and iced with chocolate French buttercream as we sung Happy Birthday.
