A Healthy Start to New Sunday Suppers Series

This year's Sunday Supper Series got off to a healthy start thanks to nutritionist Leslie Beck. Leslie is the author of The Plant-Based Power Diet: 10 Simple Steps to a Healthier, Leaner, Energetic You. A book specifically designed to help you make the transition to a one hundred percent plant-based diet. "All the recipes were developed with busy people in mind," says Leslie, who adds that there's an increasing demand for this kind of menu plan due to the many health benefits. "Plant-based eating is definitely on the rise." 

Committed carnivores would be in for a delightful surprise after sampling a cross-section of Leslie's recipes. The menu - prepared by resident chef Lawren Moneta - was both flavourful and satisfying. Starters included Tamari Roasted Almonds followed by Barley Salad with Lemon, Capers and Black Olives. This was followed by Sesame Crusted Tofu with Lemon Hummus. The main course - a delicious Moroccan Chickpea Stew - was capped off by an Apple Raspberry Crisp with Maple Oat Topping. When healthy eating tastes this good, why not give it a try?
