Many of us have heard of bitters in regards to cocktails but how many have thought about using these concentrations of natural herbs, fruits and spices for culinary creations? This evening we will learn from the experts: sommelier/mixologist Lauren Mote and chef Jonathan Chovancek who own Bittered Sling, a Vancouver-based bitters and extracts company taking the cocktail scene by storm.
They will talk about the complex flavours that can be attained in food, spirits and sparkling water with just a few dashes of added bitters or extracts, demonstrate some of these flavours for us and of course, tell us about the books they find most useful.
Tonight, Lauren will mix the cocktails, Jonathan will prepare the hors d’oeuvres and both will share with us their specialized knowledge about bitters.
Cost: $95, includes cocktails, appetizers and a kit of Bittered Sling Extracts to take home, which normally retails for $50.
