Windows on the World - Complete Wine Course: A Lively Guide
by Kevin Zraly

published by Sterling Publishing Co. Inc.
Hardcover $36.95

When dining out, Kevin Zraly never orders a bottle of wine that costs more than $50.00 (unless someone else is paying!). This seems like a good start to me and this book is a great start for anyone who is keen to know more about wine. It is, indeed, a lively guide. The book’s attractive design and reasonable size ensure that it is easy to use, and witty sidebars enhance the information contained in the pages. (" Did you know that if you can see through a red wine, generally it’s ready to drink?")

Good chapters on white and red wines of the world, their growing regions, label identification and recommended vintages are complemented by chapters on matching wine and food, buying for your own cellar in several price ranges, wine service in restaurants, a good glossary and pronunciation guide. ("The definition of a good wine is one that you enjoy. Do not let others dictate taste to you!")

10,000 students and 24 years later, we know that Kevin Zraly has something to say about wine! But it’s how he says it that really gets your attention and the attention of the James Beard Awards as Wine and Spirits Professional of the Year and the Food & Beverage Association’s Man of the Year Award.
