Following the odyssey that dozens of Improvisational Cooks embarked on last autumn, with nothing but Sally Schneider's cookbook and their sense of adventure to guide them, we are pleased to announce the sequel to The One-Book Cookbook Club. This season's featured book is one that fairly demands the attentions of such a major undertaking. Its claims are based on outstanding recipes (many of which are staff favourites), a serious respect for seasonal and local ingredients, and its author's eloquent yet relaxed prose. We are pleased to announce that The Kitchen Diaries by Nigel Slater is the newest star of The One-Book Cookbook Club.
The journey begins on Thursday, October 25th at 6:30 pm. Guests will become club members for the next five months, during which time they will submit monthly "kitchen diary" entries on how they are using and adapting the recipes and how they experience the seasons through their cooking. In early spring of mid-March, our group will come together once again to reflect on our collective experimentation and to receive a copy of the anthology we will publish of club members' submissions. Membership costs $75.00, which includes a copy of The Kitchen Diaries, one of the club anthology, and recipe samples and refreshments at the October and March events.
